Application

PlaYa! (package xyz.playaya.app) is a free mobile app published on Google Play. The app works without user accounts and does not collect any personally identifiable information.

Data we store on our servers

When you enable alerts for a specific beach, PlaYa! sends to our server (Upstash Redis) the following data, associated with an anonymous device identifier (UUID generated in the app):

  • Expo push notification token: required to send the alert when conditions are met.
  • List of subscribed beaches: identifiers of the beaches you have alerts on.
  • Preferred language (es/en): so we can deliver the notification in your language.
  • Last-alert timestamps: to avoid sending the same alert repeatedly.

We never store your name, email, phone number, location, advertising identifiers, usage history, or any other personal information.

How to delete your data

There are three ways to delete all your data from our servers:

  • Uninstall the app: when you uninstall PlaYa!, your push token becomes invalid and is automatically removed from our server within 24 hours (when the daily cron detects the expired token).
  • Disable all alerts inside the app: in the alerts screen, turn off every subscribed beach. This immediately deletes the subscription list associated with your device.
  • Manual deletion request by email: send a message to hola@playaya.xyz with the subject "Delete my data". We will process the request within a maximum of 30 calendar days and confirm by email when complete.

You do not need to provide your device identifier; we locate the data from the sender email and the push token if you know it.

Data that gets deleted

On uninstall, disabling alerts, or deletion request, the following are removed from our servers:

  • Push notification token associated with your device.
  • Full list of subscribed beaches.
  • Preferred language.
  • Notification dispatch history (dedup timestamps).

Data we retain

We do not retain any personal data after deletion. Only aggregate, anonymized records may remain (for example, total number of notifications sent in a day) which do not allow identification of individual users.

Retention periods

Data is retained only while the app is installed and alerts are active. After uninstall, the maximum retention period is 24 hours. After a manual email request, the maximum is 30 calendar days.
